Here is our position and an example of what you can ask of legislators.
Introduction: "Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a Texas voter from [Your City or District]. May I speak with Representative [Last Name]?”(If unavailable:) "I understand. Please pass along this urgent message."
The Problem: "Texas schools are failing to protect students from sexual grooming and abuse because districts are allowed to investigate themselves. Administrators cover up misconduct, predators move from school to school, and families are left without justice. This is a systemic failure, and Texas lawmakers need to act now."
The Ask: "I’m asking Representative [Last Name] to support legislation that: 1. Ends self-investigations—schools should not police themselves when it comes to child safety.2.Requires independent investigations for all reports of grooming and abuse. 3. Holds school officials accountable when they cover up misconduct."
Closing: "This is not a partisan issue—it’s about protecting kids. Current laws allow schools to handle these cases internally, which enables cover-ups. We need independent oversight. Will Representative [Last Name] take a stand to ensure no predator finds a safe haven in a Texas school and commit to strengthening these protections?"
“Thank you so much for your time and commitment to Texans across the Lone Star State.”
